The Beatles considered wrapping up their career with a gig at the Pyramids outside Cairo, Egypt, according to drummer Ringo Starr.
Promoting his new album at SiriusXM’s Town Hall radio event on Monday night – the 43rd anniversary of the Fab Four’s final performance – Starr revealed he and his bandmates thought about going out in style with a spectacular final gig.
He said, “The four of us were thinking… ‘We’ll do (our last concert) at the Pyramids, or we’ll do it in Hawaii in a volcano’. We had all these big, grandiose ideas and at the end you say, ‘Sod it, just let’s do it on the roof.’”
The Beatles final show took place on 30 January, 1969, on the roof of their Apple Corps record label building in London and Starr admitted he regrets the fact he wasn’t hauled off by police after the authorities showed up to stop the impromptu gig.
Starr added, “The police came to stop us, and I was on the roof (saying), ‘Come on, drag me off!’ It would be so dramatic, and the damn cop wouldn’t drag me off!”

Daniel Radcliffe has addressed reports suggesting he and Harry Potter pal Rupert Grint have fallen out, insisting the media have gone too far with comments he made about texting.
The actor was responding to a question about his friendships with his Potter co-stars, while conducting press interviews for his new movie The Woman in Black, when he revealed he and Grint “never text each other, we never see each other” – but he states when they do get together, they’re the best of friends.
Clearing up his remarks during an appearance on Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Tuesday, Radcliffe said, “We have never texted each other in 10 years of filming… We are lazy texters… and we both know that’s how the other person is.
“But I know that the next time I see Rupert we will sit down next to each other and chat and it’ll be like old times. It’ll be fantastic.”
And the young Brit apologised to fans who feared their film heroes had fallen out in real-life.
He added, “If any fans heard that and got upset or it was distressing… me and Rupert are very, very good friends; it’s just that we’re not constantly texting each other.”

The inquest into Amy Winehouse’s death may be declared invalid after it was revealed the coroner in charge did not have the correct qualifications for the role.
In October, Suzanne Greenaway recorded a verdict of death by misadventure, stating the singer died as an “unintended consequence” of drinking too much alcohol.
It has now emerged that Greenaway resigned from her job just a month after completing the investigation into Winehouse’s death because she did not meet the strict guidelines over the appointment of coroners.
According to the rules, Greenaway should have been a solicitor in the Law Society for at least five years, but she had only been part of the organization for two-and-a-half.
She should also have served five years as a “qualified medical practitioner”, but the Australian only qualified as a nurse in her native country.
It could mean that all 30 of the inquests she worked on, including Winehouse’s, could be declared illegal – but officials insist this will only happen if the verdicts she recorded are challenged in the High Court, reports Britain’s The Sun.
Greenaway’s husband, Inner North London Coroner Dr Andrew Scott Reid, who appointed her to the role, tells the publication, “In November it became apparent I’d made an error in the appointment process. While I am confident that all of the inquests handled were done so correctly, I apologize if this matter causes distress.”

Seriously, where’s Milla? Hopefully they’re not trying to phase her out before the sixth movie comes out!
Check out the newly released (poster) above for Resident Evil: Retribution, which hits theaters on September 14th!
The artwork is definitely cool…but Milla Jovovich is totally missing and we feel like she’s a strong selling point for the flick. And where are all the zombies?!?!?!?
We appreciate what they’re trying to do here artistically, but we’re thinking they’d be better off showing Milla jumping through the air and firing off some rounds at a menacing zombie or two twenty!
What do U think? Are U feeling this new Res Ev poster???
