Ben Gazzara, a popular character actor, passed away Friday at the age of 81. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer, his lawyer told The New York Times.
His powerful dramatic performances brought an intensity to a variety of roles and made him a memorable presence in iconic productions over the years.
From the original Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway to the movie The Big Lebowski and countless others, he made an impact on stage, screen and film.

Accomplished as an actor, and known as dapper and irresistible to women, Gazzara (also known for Roadhouse) came by his many streetwise roles naturally.
He began his career on Broadway productions, later moving to California to appear in movies, including Anatomy of a Murder and The Young Doctors.
He also played his most famous role on TV, as a doomed attorney on NBC’s answer to ABC’s The Fugitive. Called Run for Your Life, it ran from 1965-68.

Look out, music world. Lexi Sullivan is coming.
The young singer stars in a new video for a track titled “Hot Stuff,” which is produced by Ark Music Factory, the same company that made a star out of Rebecca Black.
And, no offense to Lexi, who may be perfectly nice and innocent in all this, but the song makes Black’s “Friday” sound like a Grammy winner.
In it, Sullivan appears to be singing about some cute boy who isn’t very nice, so his glasses break and some other stuff happens and, really, you just need to watch for yourself. But do it with ear plugs, folks. You’ve been warned…

They’re good friends off screen who can seriously bust a move!
In a new video that’s gone viral, the former High School Musical co-stars dance it up at North Hollywood’s Millennium Dance Complex to Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls),” shaking their groove thangs and clearly having a great time.
“Dance class with @slaughteration and Nessa #whoruntheworld,” Tisdale Tweeted prior to the session with Hudgens and choreographer Jeri Slaughter.

Sultan of sleaze Joe Francis is threatening to sue Madonna if she performs her new song called “Girls Gone Wild” at the Super Bowl tomorrow. Yes, really.
Francis, creator of the infamous Girls Gone Wild franchise, in which he films drunk girls exposing themselves on spring break, is apparently dead serious.
He has issued a cease and desist letter claiming he will take legal action against Madonna if she sings that particular song at this weekend’s festivities.

The letter (sent to Madonna, NBC Universal and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell) from Francis’ Nevada lawyer David Houston, states that:
“Francis became aware of Madonna’s new track based on the presales of her new album MDNA, as the #1 song on the album is ‘Girls Gone Wild.’”
“Mr. Francis and Girls Gone Wild have worked tirelessly for an excess of two decades to build his brand and to protect his trademark Girls Gone Wild.”
The letter claims Madonna has “violated Federal and State trademark laws by making unauthorized use of Mr. Francis’ trademark Girls Gone Wild.”
For what it’s worth, it looks like she wasn’t going to sing it anyway.
Madonna’s set list reportedly includes “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” “Ray of Light” and “Vogue,” along with “Music” and “Holiday.” No GGW action.
Houston tells E! News regarding the set list, “That would be a wise choice on her part.” Good luck getting it off the album and iTunes, though.

Betty Buckley does not like it when you diss Broadway and its babies!
The Broadway star took to Twitter to hash out her problems with Randy Jackson‘s critiques of Broadway on AI.
Even though she states she’s never seen or heard anyone who has the chops!
Betty B said the following on Twitter:
OK, I just have to say this: I am sick & tired of Randy Jackson bashing what they think is Bway singing! It’s soo ludicrous! I have yet to see or hear anyone sound remotely like they are a theatre singer on Idol!! And, further, theatrical singing encompasses every kind of sound, voice & style. He doesn’t know what he’s talkin’ about!!
But wait! There’s more!
nd by these constant disses he is tellin’ Amer. kids that Bway is some kind of inferior art form. Next to jazz, Broadway is the only indigenous Amer. art form & with respect, ‘Dog’, your opinion is whack & uninformed! I mean, I respect Randy Jackson & everyone certainly has their own likes & dislikes, but THIS constant diss of ‘Bway’ sounding, to his ear, singers is just so ignorant & stupid that I literally cannot comprehend the producers allowing such mendacity in his remarks! Beyond idiotic!!!
Oh snap!!! That’s definitely more than 160 characters so she must have super PISSED!
We feel you, gurl. Everyone has their own voice and there’s no reason to take it out on Broadway.
Nigel Lithgow did respond to Betty however. He stated that Broadway is a “Mecca for talent” and that the problem goes beyond Randy.
If we’ve learn anything, it’s that you do NOT mess with Betty Buckley!!!
